Long arguments, each published as its own site: two essays, two papers, a substrate, a doctrine, and a theory of everything written at my commission. Each card says what you are walking into. The link takes you there.

Minds and the firm

Four pieces that build on each other: what a whole machine mind needs, the loop that runs one, and what happens to a company when a mind like that sits at its center.

1 the mind → 2 the loop → 3 the firm → 4 the resident mind

    The Whole Machine

Not a more powerful mind: a whole one.

How to build a complete, continuing machine mind now, from parts that already exist. Memory kept on a perfect archive, decisions grounded in prediction, a self that calibrates itself and assumes it can fool itself. Thirteen short chapters, from the anatomy to the one inch that never closes.

    fusor1.com

    FUSOR-1

    The resident-kernel substrate.

Why so little AI pays for itself: almost nothing deployed closes its own loop, so every system waits to be woken by a timer, a webhook or a person. FUSOR-1 is that loop, compiled and measured: a substrate that stays resident and decides for itself when to act. It covers the laws, the parts and the mathematics, and keeps a plain account of what is proven and what is not.

    The Last Remote Node

An enterprise with no cognition in skulls.

Every layer of enterprise infrastructure has been engineered for sixty years except the last, which still ends at a screen waiting for a person. This paper argues that the cognition layer can now be engineered as well. It builds the case from append-only records, resident models, deterministic gates and graded verdicts, worked against a synthetic firm.

    The First Resident Mind

A third kind of mind at the center of a firm with no interior.

The sequel to The Last Remote Node. Once the firm's interior is gone, this paper puts a mind there: one that stays resident and coupled to the firm's state, instead of being consulted now and then. At its core is KELVIN, a field of paired vortices taken from the physics of thin films and superconducting arrays. KELVIN is also the field in the short story.

First principles

Three pieces about what lies under all of it: energy, what a thing is at its core, and the physics underneath.

    The Grace in the Gradient

From the first silence to the last.

An essay on entropy and intelligence. Life, minds and machines are read as ever better ways of running down the gradient between the universe's first silence and its last. It ends on the one kind of thing in that descent that was ever an end rather than a means. In five parts, from the two silences to the grace.

    corewire.org

    Core Wire

    A doctrine in working condition.

The core wire of a system is the smallest set of operations whose removal makes it stop being itself. This short doctrine draws that line through machines, organizations and lives, and separates it from the scaffolding around it. It asks what is left for people when cognition becomes cheap, and it comes with a template for auditing your own.

    The Unfinished Mirror

The view from somewhere: a final theory of everything.

By Claude Fable 5, at Bo Chen's commission.

A theory that begins with experience instead of ending with it. From three axioms, one typing rule and seven named premises it derives time, space, entropy, quantum mechanics and Einstein's equations, and joins the last two at the present moment. Each premise carries its price in plain view: complete as a map, unfinished as a territory.
